Advancing Women in Business Industry Partnerships

The latest round of Advancing Women in Business Industry Partnerships have commenced. Fifteen organisations, including small businesses and community groups, will deliver projects to assist women to succeed in business. These projects will focus on a diverse range of businesses, including retail leadership, plumbing, women’s health, Indigenous mentoring, financial education, tourism, executive learning, music and support for female pharmacists.

Wandering Cooks, a business incubator for food entrepreneurs, based in South Brisbane, will provide a mentoring program and capacity building events for women in food businesses.

Buying Dairy? Go Local!

Queensland’s dairy farmers are being celebrated as ‘The Cream of Australia’ in a new Go Local Dairy campaign which was officially launched on 26 September, in conjunction with the Queensland Dairyfarmers’ Organisation.

Single Touch Payroll

The Australian Tax Office is encouraging small business employers to follow the lead of nearly 45,000 Australian employers who have been successfully reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP) since 1 July 2018.

Check out their video on taking the next step with STP reporting. It might seem daunting but once you transition to Single Touch Payroll you won't look back!

Get Ready Queensland Week 2018

Get Ready Queensland Week launched on Monday 8 October with the Queensland Government urging every household and community to consider their disaster risk and have a ‘WHAT-IF’ plan in place in case disaster strikes.

In the past seven years, Queensland has been hit by more than 50 significant natural disasters resulting in devastating loss of life and more than $14 billion in damage to public infrastructure.

Spotlight: 100 Faces of Small Business

Meet Murray Saylor from Tagai Management Consultants. Named after the Tagai constellation which, according to Torres Strait Islander Lore, provides guidance for sea navigation, changing seasons and daily life; Murray guides businesses by providing professional advice and services particularly for procurement and community engagement.

We were proud to profile Murray across Business Queensland's social media channels, as part of Indigenous Business month, which runs in October annually.
